Bonnie Liles-Barnett

Bonnie C. Liles-Barnett of College Park, Georgia, at the age of 85, went peacefully to be with Jesus in her home the morning of July 8, 2023. Mrs. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Reese J. Liles, who passed in December of 1986 and her long time "fella" Joe Scarbrough, who recently passed in April of 2023. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Louise Liles and son-in-law Richard Dendy; granddaughter, Michelle Nelson and grandson-in-law Jay Nelson. Originally from Alabama, Mrs. Bonnie's father, Algy Austin Hornsby (Oct 15, 1892 - Oct 11, 1948) and mother, Louella Coleman Hornsby (Aug 29,1892 - Oct 28,1956), called the city of Tallassee, home. Early in life Mrs. Bonnie and her husband Reese (May 5, 1935 - Dec 16, 1986) made College Park, Georgia their permanent residence. After many years of employment at Emory Clinic in insurance billing, Mrs. Bonnie retired and enjoyed her days working tirelessly in her garden. A longtime member and faithful servant of Enon Baptist Church in Cliftondale, Mrs. Bonnie will surely be missed on Sunday mornings. Mrs. Bonnie is also preceded in death by her brothers John A. Hornsby; Rogers J. Hornsby; and sister Lorelei E. Hornsby Ballard and will always be remembered as 'Aunt Bonnie Clyde' by her surviving nieces; Janice Lynn, Ella MacFiggen, and Cindy Ballard, and nephews; Al Hornsby, Rogers J. Hornsby Jr. and Mike Hornsby. All who knew Mrs. Bonnie agree, she exemplified the widow's behavior in 1 Timothy 5:10, being "well known for her good works, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds." We take comfort in knowing Mrs. Bonnie is home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who held her hand through many tests and trials from which she arose victorious. In the words of her nephew Al, "..always, no matter what came her way, she faced it with faith, determination and that beautiful smile she aways had."
