Alex Boatright

Alex Boatright, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, in Palmetto, Georgia, at the age of 92. Born on October 11, 1933, in East Point, Georgia, Alex lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and country. A proud veteran, Alex served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he was honored with a Silver Star for his bravery and service. Following his military service, he returned to Georgia and embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a printer for the State of Georgia. Alex was a man of deep faith, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He was a cherished member of his church community, where he shared his love for the Lord with all who knew him. His care for others was well known among family and friends. He also shared a remarkable love with his wife of 69 years-their bond was unwavering, and they were truly inseparable, a beautiful example of lifelong devotion. An avid gardener, Alex took great pride in tending to his fruit trees, finding joy and solace in the simple beauty of nature. He also loved birdwatching, especially the sight of bluebirds and hummingbirds, which never failed to bring a smile to his face. While he cherished the outdoors, nothing meant more to him than his family and his church, which were always at the center of his life. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mae Boatright; his daughter, Nikena Gwendolyn Boatright Mann; and five sisters and two brothers, Alex leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Gwen Boatright; his son, Duane Boatright and his wife Cynthia; and his grandchildren, Matthew Boatright and his wife Amber, Michael Boatright and his wife Karen, Emily Boatright, and Elizabeth "Belle" Boatright and her fiancé Sean Whitley. Alex will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather whose gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services to honor and celebrate Alex's life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ramah Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory and also on Friday from 12:00 until service time at Ramah Baptist Church. Alex's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
