Alice Virginia (Ginny) Iddins

Alice Virginia (Ginny) Iddins, 84 of Sharpsburg, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017. She was born on September 23, 1932 in Columbus Georgia to Alice Murrow Ray Sauers and Robert Edward Ray. Ginny was the precious wife of Caleb Vernon Iddins for 66 years. She was the adored mother of Cynthia Anne Iddins Ferguson (Bill), David Alan Iddins, Robbin Lynn Iddins (Becky Rivas), and Belinda Dawn Iddins Harrison (Chuck); Loving grandmother to Bryan Chachi Iddins Kruel (Alexis), Amanda Iddins Kruel, Randy Iddins (Stephanie), Phillip Iddins (Jennifer), David Iddins Jr., Meagan Crawford Gill, and Iain Ferguson; Sister to Rick Sauers (Sheila); and Great-Grandmother to Callie and Kelsey Iddins (Phillip), Emily Iddins (Randy), and Chloe Gill (Meagan); and additional nephews and nieces. Ginny was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Joe Sauers, son David Alan Iddins and son-in-law William Bill Ferguson. The family wants to thank Tanya Tanski for her love of our mother and all the many hours she dedicated making her feel pretty with makeup and nail polish, styling her hair, bringing special gifts and flowers. Ginny loved their time together. We also want to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice that took such great care of her the last couple of years of her life. Ginny was a feisty true redhead! She loved to "spend spend spend" and enjoyed "drilling and driving" which means wasting gas and mileage on the family car. She loved anything sparkly and made sure that all of her outfits were accessorized to perfection. She put her heart into making others feel special with a kind word for everyone. God always held a very special place in her heart. She enjoyed worshiping him at Mount Olive Baptist Church in East Point, and singing in the choir every week. Ginny loved fried chicken and chocolate fudge cake; therefore she was especially fond of homecoming at her church. She had a beautiful soprano voice and would happily sing while she cleaned house during the years that she was raising her babies. She went to work when the children got older and was employed at the Ye Olde Shoppe and South Fulton Hospital in East Point, Georgia. She enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, traveling with a special group of friends, and spending time with her family. She absolutely loved a good thunderstorm and had no fear of walking through the rain in bare feet even if there was lightning and thunder. She knew even then that God would take care of her. Ginny was lovingly cared for by her husband Vernon throughout her seven year battle with Dementia – Alzheimer's. Because of his love and devotion for Ginny, she was blessed to be able to live in the comfort of her own home until she passed into the precious arms of Jesus our Lord and Savior. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:7 She suffers no more. We are truly blessed but will miss her every day until we see her again! Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 2 o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Kuykendall and Pastor Greg Foster officiating.
