Anna Paul Lucy

Anna Pauline King Lucy, age 90, passed away on April 21, 2006 at her daughters' home in Sharpsburg GA. Mrs. Lucy was born in Birmingham, AL on August 29, 1915, the only daughter of Annie Janney Bridges King and Harry Howard King. She was a life long resident of Birmingham, graduating from Phillips High School and later from Montevallo College in 1936 where she was on a nationally ranked archery team. Following graduation, Mrs. Lucy taught in the Jefferson County and Birmingham City Schools until her marriage to Hubert D. Lucy, Jr. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Belvedere Study Club. Vibrant, intelligent and fun loving, she adored her grandchildren, even playing football with them. Mrs. Lucy loved to travel and experience local cultures, even traveling on an elephant in India and a camel in Egypt. She is survived by daughters Paula Ercolini and Ellen Lucy, son-in-law Bill Ercolini, grandchildren David and Ellen Williams, and great grandchildren Annaleese, Christian and Lucy Kate Williams. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law John and Maxine King of Tampa; sister in law Anne Purple of Lexington Ky, and sister in law Virginia Wright and her husband Richard of Natick MA along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucy's husband and 2 older brothers predeceased her. Anna Paul Lucy will be laid to rest in a grave side service attired in her honeymoon outfit in which she still looked beautiful. The service will be held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 1 :00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Memorial Gardens in Carrollton GA. Reverend Deacon Benedict Gross of Holy Trinity Catholic Church will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday April 23,4:30 ti16:30 PM at Parrott Funeral Home on llighway 74, Fairburn Ga. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in Mrs. Lucy's memory to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Fund. Mrs. Lucy was a breast cancer survivor and is featured in the book about breast cancer survivors, Warrior Women.
