Barry Waits

Barry Dale Waits, age 67 November 24, 1954 – September 2, 2022 Charlotte, North Carolina - Barry passed peacefully on September 2nd, 2022. Son of the late, Mr. Albert Aderine Waits Jr. and the late Martha Nell Oliver Waits. Barry was a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of MD Collins High School in College Park and Atlanta Area Technical College. Known for his easy-going attitude and graciousness, Barry delighted in the treasure of his friendships and the gift of his family. Barry loved his Beagle Bullett and many Cocker Spaniels throughout his life, including Hailey, Rock, Rooney (Buddy), and Rocky. He achieved the highest honor from The NRA, a ``Distinguished Expert" Marksmanship Qualification. He took pride in flying, the thrill of driving his ’73 Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challenger, and riding his Yamaha motorcycles. He loved listening to the music of his favorite artists, especially that of The Doors and Patty Loveless. Barry's greatest legacy and fulfillment came from the joy he shared, the lessons he taught both in word and example, and the constant sacrificial love he had for his daughter, Ana. She was the center of his life and greatest treasure. He loved to watch her play soccer , enjoyed spending time together watching the Braves with her and eating Chick Fil A. Always readily available with an open ear, keen advice, and loving support. Barry enjoyed the fellowship of his childhood best friends, Steve Chambers and Ken Rabbitt. He flew as a commercial pilot since 1989 alongside his close friend and colleague, John Long, as a Pilot for CC Air and Mesa. His unfailing work ethic, professionalism, and talent for flying always gave his passengers comfort. Barry is survived by His daughter; Roxana Catherine Waits , his future son-in-law, Jonathan Cain Bolton and Catherine Waits , mother of Roxana . He is also survived by his brother, Albert Alan Waits and his sister-in-law, Linda, of Newnan, Georgia, his nephew, Andrew Waits, and nieces Courtney Waits Pate and Heather Waits Crook. On Barry's behalf, the Waits family extends their sincere appreciation for the outstanding medical care provided by The Levine-Dickson Hospice House of Southminster. Knowing he was receiving such loving care brought peace and comfort for Barry and his family. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at one o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 8919 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
