Betty Joe Gill Norman

Betty Joe Gill Norman, born on March 30, 1946, passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 78. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. A devoted and lifelong Christian, Betty’s spiritual journey was profoundly shaped when Dr. Charles Stanley led her to the Lord and baptized her at the age of 21. She was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she nurtured her faith and community. Betty possessed a deep passion for gardening, often finding solace and inspiration among the blooms she lovingly tended. She was an avid crocheter, creating beautiful pieces that warmed the hearts and homes of many. As an artist, she expressed herself with a unique flair, capturing the beauty she saw in the world around her. Her affection for dogs further highlighted her nurturing spirit, as she cared for them as cherished companions. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas J. "Tommy" Norman; her daughter, Cynthia Michele Norman Sims; her son, Michael Norman; and her granddaughter, Marlena Norman Wallace. Their memories remained deeply cherished in her heart. Betty leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her son, James Daniel Norman; her grandchildren, Austin Norman, Christopher Norman, Elise Sims, Erin Sims, and Cameron Norman. Her extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who will remember her fondly. Her friendship circle spanned from Miami to Atlanta, where she held dear many friends, especially Mary Lou Thompson, whose care and companionship brought great comfort to her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 4 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Rev. Buddy Waldron officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, offering an opportunity to share stories and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives. Betty Joe Gill Norman will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family and friends, and her unwavering faith. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing her.
