Charles John Wallace

Charles John Wallace, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Fayetteville, GA, at the age of 97. Born on October 31, 1927, in Ben Hill, GA, Charles led a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. Charles proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force before embarking on a distinguished career as a Senior Engineer with AT&T, where he worked faithfully for 30 years until his retirement. Known for his exceptional skill and work ethic, he left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of working with him. A man of many talents, Charles was renowned for his green thumb, particularly his ability to grow anything he set his mind to. Famous for his tomatoes, he generously shared gardening advice with friends and neighbors, always eager to cultivate both plants and friendships. His love for building and creating was equally well-known; his abundance of tools was always available to lend to those in need, accompanied by his thoughtful guidance. Charles was deeply committed to his community and faith. As a Master Mason and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Newnan, he dedicated much of his time to helping others. He was actively involved with the AO House, contributing significantly to its mission of collecting food donations for those in need. Storytelling was a cherished pastime for Charles, and his children and grandchildren would often gather to listen to his enthralling tales. His love for family was evident in every aspect of his life, especially in the joy he found in being a grandfather and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Annie Wallace, his son Steve Wallace, and daughter-in-law Ann, Charles's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his devoted wife of 26 years, Joyce Wallace; his children Joseph Wallace (Angela), Greg Wallace, Mark Mauldin (Marsha), Susan Fournier (Dean-O), and Scott Mauldin (Donnis); his grandchildren Jonathan Wallace (Christine), Stephanie Wallace (Bryan), Christina Wallace (Lorenzo), Nicole Siegel, Lacey Mauldin (Jake), Mandy Mauldin, Kyle Martin (Sierra), Emily Martin (Bryant), Sierra Chastain, Jacob Gerald, and Savannah Mauldin (Brock); and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Don Wallace. A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Mike Emmeot officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
