Christopher James Asher

Christopher James Asher, age 24, of Manchester, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024. Christopher was known for his general enthusiasm about everything. He had a variety of interests that would often astound his family. Christopher played soccer from the age of 4, playing club soccer and high school soccer until he graduated. He was a huge Manchester United fan and would often watch professional soccer when he could. He is known for loving Georgia Tech football in a school of Georgia fans and stuck by his team in the worst of times. His favorite meal was Chick-fil-a and would eat there as often as he could. Christopher had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh. His zest for life and caring soul will be remembered by many. Christopher was born in Atlanta, Georgia to April King and Jim Asher. Christopher graduated from Pike County High School in Williamson, Georgia with honors and many soccer awards. Christopher attended three semesters of college and decided he wanted to pursue his entrepreneurial goals and started a lawncare/landscaping business at nineteen where he learned that being his own boss was both rewarding and tough. Christopher was always thinking big, how can I improve and what more can I do to make it better. Christopher is remembered for being passionate about his family even when it was not popular for his age group. He would roll his eyes about having to attend family gatherings but loved his time with his family. He was a huge dog lover and learned to love cats when his fiancé moved in with him. His pups were his babies and he lavished them with attention. In his spare time, he enjoyed gaming, learning everything about history and sharing it with others and bowling. Christopher had a mechanical mind and loved discovering how things worked and would often troubleshoot his own issues to learn “how to fix stuff” along with watching a YouTube video and a call to his bonus dad, David King. Christopher had so many interests and looked at the world with interest and wonder, fascinated by so many things and would often share his tidbits of interest to whoever would listen. In the last year, Christopher had met the love of his life, Krista Taylor and had recently shared with family that he had asked her father for her hand and that he was going to propose. It is evident from the huge smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye that he was hopelessly in love and happy. Christopher was baptized at McDonough Presbyterian Church with his sister and mother in 2002. Christopher did not actively attend church but made sure he spoke to God daily. Christopher is survived by his mother April King, bonus dad David King; father Jim Asher III and step-mother Gina Asher; his sister Taylor Asher Stegeinga (Justin); his fiance’ Krista Taylor, his grandparents Robin and Kathy James; grandparents Norma and Jim Asher; his aunt Jody Ness (Steve); uncle Mathan James (Erin & cousin Kaleb), his aunt Anne Bouisson and cousin Ian Asher, bonus sister Maddie King, bonus brother David Thomas King, step-sisters Mallory and Marissa Galletta, & family friend Cindy Rivera. Christopher was preceded in death by his biological grandfather Joel David Piner, his uncle Charles (Chuck) Asher, his great grandmother Margaret Kight, great grandparents Harvey and Flora Mae James, great grandparents Jim and Mary Asher; and Forrest Guinn and Betty Shamblee; great aunt Charcie Sargent, great uncle James Franklin, great aunt Ann Thompson, great uncle Don James, great uncle Larry James, and great aunt Joy Hunt. In lieu of flowers, donations in Christopher’s name to the Spalding County Animal Christopher’s family will receive friends and guests from noon until 1pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, 101 Carriage Lane, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269. A celebration of life service will be held for Christopher at 1pm with a reception to follow. Please wear appropriate casual clothing…soccer jerseys…or items that you know Christopher would love. His favorite color is blue. Please leave the black mourning clothing at home. This is a celebration of Christopher’s life as he wanted others to remember him.
