David "Sonny" Stephenson

David Sonny Stephenson, born on January 14, 1947, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 78. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Sonny dedicated much of his professional life to working in sales for Hav-A-Tampa, where he excelled in selling cigars. His career was marked by his dedication and passion for his work, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Sonny was a man of many talents and interests. Growing up in Miami, Florida, he developed a love for music and became a singer/songwriter, even recording a record. His love for music was only surpassed by his love for people. Known for never meeting a stranger, Sonny had a gift for connecting with others and sharing his faith in the Lord. Sonny was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church and a current member of Line Creek Baptist Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found great joy in serving others. Through his volunteer work with Alcoholics Anonymous, Sonny helped change thousands of lives, offering support and guidance to those in need. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emily Stephenson, and his sisters, Iris Gudzinski and Marsha Perry. David is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Alexis Stephenson; his children, Kelly Wingo (Scott), David Stephenson (Christy), and Sean Stephenson (Michelle); his brother, Mike Stephenson (Kay), and his cherished grandchildren, Eli Kemp (Alyse), Abigail Parrott (Adam), Logan Howard (MaryJane), Connor Stephenson, Clay Stephenson, Kyle Stephenson, Cameron Stephenson (Cristina), and Delanie Stephenson. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Lyla, Lilly, Avery, Sonny, Jeremiah, Elijah, and one on the way, along with many other loved family members. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, September 14, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Sonny's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
