George Emmett Flowers

George Emmett Flowers lost his courageous battle with cancer and went to be with his Lord on April 7, 2024, at 4:25 p.m. George was born on June 14, 1952, in Daytona Beach, Florida and adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Flowers as an infant. George began his life-long connection to Fairburn when his family moved to their new home on Rivertown Road in 1958. George graduated from Campbell High School in 1970. Following high school, George attended Georgia Tech, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in 1974. George was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, (Alpha Gamma Chapter at Georgia Tech.) George was preceded in death by his father, Charles Prescott Flowers, Sr; mother, Evelyn Lyle Ledbetter Flowers; brother, Charles “Chip” Prescott Flowers, Jr. and a very special person in his life, Pattie Lynch. He is survived by nephew, Kenon (Joyann) Flowers, Peachtree City, great-nephew, Wren Flowers and great-niece, Annabelle Flowers. George is also survived by friends and caregivers, Perry Crawford and Brian Gross, long-time friend, Tommy Thompson, his Friendship Baptist Church family, and special friends Lee Anne Watson, Marvin Brock, Larry Tiernan and Preston “Skip” Morrison. George accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and joined Friendship Baptist Church in Chattahoochee Hills in April 1963. Using the baptistry at Fairburn First Baptist Church, George was baptized by Friendship Pastor, Rev. Carl J. Mowell, Sr. He enjoyed a career as an independent financial agent and cherished the relationships he developed with his clients. He was a gifted pianist who could play by ear. In recent years, George served as pianist for Friendship Baptist Church and displayed his creative talents weekly with the special offertory musical selections. George enjoyed a variety of music, however during his illness, he especially gravitated to the calming effects of classical music. In his last weeks, George resided and received exceptional care at Brightmoor Nursing Center and Hospice in Griffin, Georgia. During his final hours and immediately after his passing, the heartfelt outpouring of love and compassion by the staff was surreal and spiritual. Special thanks to Taylor, Faye, Emily, Holly, Jena, and Haley, who are truly heavenly angels on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to assist with funeral and final expenses. Please mark donations for “George Flowers Funeral Expense.” George’s family and friends will have a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 6090 Cochran Mill Road, Chattahoochee Hills, Ga, with Rev. Buddy Waldron and Rev. Michael Moore officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. In lieu of a processional, all attendees are asked to gather at the cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
