Huldah S. Short

Huldah S. Short, born on November 19, 1934, in East Point, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a cherished member of her family and community, known affectionately as "Grammy" by both children and adults alike. Huldah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stith H. Short Sr., and her parents, Rufus E. Stell and Bessie Breland. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Michele Zarzaca-Cockerill, and son-in-law, Scott; her treasured stepchildren, Brenda Short, Sara Johnson (Rick), and Hunter Short (Stephanie). She also leaves behind six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply. Her sister-in-law, Linda Stell, also survives her, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family members. A proud employee of the Veteran's Administration in the Loan Guarantee Division, Huldah maintained lasting friendships with her colleagues, embracing them as a part of her extended family. Her strong connections were evident in every community she touched, from East Point to Senoia, and eventually Anderson, where she relocated in 2020 to be closer to her daughter. Her unwavering faith and love for her church community remained with her throughout her life, fostering relationships that transcended distance and time. Huldah had a nurturing spirit, frequently babysitting her step-grandchildren, nephews, and even their pets with boundless affection. Her weekends were often spent at her daughter's lake house, where Sunday dinners became a cherished tradition. Known for her radiant smile and open heart, she never met a stranger and brought joy to everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith lives on through the countless lives she touched. Services honoring Huldah will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11 o'clock at Sharpsburg First Baptist Church, with Dr. Keith Stell officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, January 17, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home. Huldah's warmth and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and community, and she will be dearly missed.
