Janice Marie Brown Riggs

Janice Marie Brown Riggs, of Fairburn, GA, passed away August 14, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1951, in Milan, TN to the late Mary Marie Cooley Brown and Hillard Marshall Brown. She is survived by her sister Renee Brown Weidel, of Summerfield, NC, nephew, Adam C. Weidel of High Point, NC and nephew, Bryan A. Weidel of West Palm Beach, FL and numerous cousins, family members, and close friends. Janice attended Memphis State University School of Nursing. She was a flight attendant at Delta Air Lines for 35 years before she retired Sept 1, 2012. At Delta, she was admired for her commitment to excellence in customer service not only to her passengers but to her co-workers as well. Janice would always make the flight experience for each passenger special whether it was their first flight (her favorite) or a seasoned traveler (also her favorite). She was part of a team that assisted flight attendants bidding for their monthly schedule in a new program. She spent countless hours assisting her fellow flight attendants to learn the new system to optimize their schedules from month to month. As a tribute to her commitment, in 1999, Janice was one of the first inductees to the peer-nominated Delta Chairman’s Club. The Delta Chairman’s Club recognizes employees who excel at customer service as well as are admired by their co-workers. Only one hundred peer-nominated employees from around the globe are bestowed with this most prestigious honor per year and she was among the first. She was committed to the Delta Golf Committee and volunteered at the Delta Golf Open for 33 years. She served as a coordinator, historian, and wore many hats over the years. She, with the help of contributors; designed, edited and published extensive detailed albums (over 50) with pictures, scores, and events of the participants and volunteers covering 60 years of the Delta Golf Open. She had a passion for helping people and will be missed by all who knew her. Janice was a lifetime member of Missionary Grove Baptist Church in Camden, TN. Due to the current health crisis the family requests those attending the service to please wear a mask. Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn Georgia 30213. Interment will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Eastview Cemetery, 1530 Birdsong Road, Camden, Tennessee 38320.
