Joan Ruth Cordle

Mrs. Joan Ruth Johnson Cordle, 84, of Palmetto, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, May 29, 2026. Though she faced many trials and illnesses, her faith never wavered. She has now been fully healed and is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born April 17, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Wilbur E. Johnson, Sr. and Ruth Naomi Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ralph G. (Jake) Cordle, her twin sons, Douglas Lanier Cordle and Donald Lee Cordle, and her brother Wilbur E. (Will) Johnson, Jr. of Florida. In 1953, her parents and brother relocated to Hialeah, Florida, where she met and married the love of her life. While living in Florida, they had three children before moving to Palmetto, Georgia, where their fourth child was born. Joan’s legacy is one of love and devotion to her family, and she was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She faithfully prayed for her family and always made the time spent with them special. Together, she and “Jake” built a family rooted in faith and unity. She is survived by her two daughters: Brenda Cordle Turner (Mike) of Newnan, GA, and Elaine Cordle Beatty (Chris) of Newnan, GA; her daughter-in-law Pam Kinser Cordle of Moreland, GA; seven grandchildren: Jonathan Beatty (Alexus) of Newnan, Taylor Turner (Brittney) of Clermont, GA, Austin Cordle of Newnan, GA, Brett Beatty (Manami) of Marietta, GA, Cody Cordle (Chynna) of Sharpsburg, GA, Christopher Turner (Abigail) of Augusta, GA, and Amber Beatty (fiancé Taylor Carrigan) of Dallas, TX; four great-grandchildren: May Beatty, Ryker Cordle, Salem Turner, Elle Beatty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan attended Palmetto Baptist Church, where she was active in the Vera Smith Sunday School class and the Classics Senior group. She enjoyed attending prayer meetings regularly on Wednesday nights. Her passions were spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family, cooking and sharing meals with friends, sewing, growing flowers, and reading. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00AM, in the Chapel of Parrot Funeral Home, 8355 Senoia Road, in Fairburn, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Joan’s name to the Palmetto Baptist Church Building Fund, 6344 North Highway 29, Palmetto, GA 30268. Joan’s gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
