John Partington

John Partington, a man of profound integrity and enduring love, passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania on October 13, 1931, Mr. Partington's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Mr. Partington emerged from humble beginnings, being the son of George Partington, a coal miner and Catherine Partington, a homemaker. Through sheer determination and skill, he carved out a successful career as the owner of Royalty Decorators, where his leadership and charisma left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. Always upbeat and frequently found whistling, he brought an irreplaceable energy to both his work and personal life. John was a remarkable individual known for his excellent salesmanship, which stemmed from his caring personality. His always-positive outlook and personable demeanor made him a joy to be around, both personally and professionally. His spirited drive and exceptional talent made him an exemplary salesman, earning the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Partington relocated from Pennsylvania to Georgia, where he balanced his professional endeavors with a passion for tennis. His love of the game was matched by his enthusiasm for square dancing, which allowed him to form lasting friendships and community connections. For many years, he faithfully attended St. Phillip Benizi Catholic Church, living a life that embodied the values of faith, charity, and fellowship. Family was the cornerstone of Mr. Partington's world, and he gave everything to ensure their success and happiness. He was an infinitely loving, caring, and generous man, attributes dearly missed by all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Janet Hobbs Partington. Janet, the love of his life and high school sweetheart, supported him unwaveringly throughout their many years together. He often said he was the luckiest man alive because of her steadfast support in all his endeavors. Also preceded him in death is his loving daughter, Laura Partington Lockridge; and his parents, George and Catherine Partington; his siblings George Clark Partington, Jr., Rena Macarty, Catherine Baker, Rose Mytych. He took immense pride in all five of his children, each of whom graduated college, a testament to the opportunities he worked tirelessly to provide them. He leaves behind a large, loved, and loving family, including his children Dan Lockridge (son in-law) of Sandy Springs; Catherine E. Massey (Steven) of Douglasville; John D. Partington (Cheryl) of Roswell, David W. Partington (Margie) of Fayetteville, and George J. Partington (Leigh) of Stone Mountain. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Jean, Charles, Bradford (Kaela), Shane (Shannon), Michael (Jennifer), Benjamin (Katherine), Megan, Miranda (Brandon), Josh (Lauren), Matt (Brittney), Eleanor, and Audrey; and his great-grandchildren: Logan, Drew, Addie, Grayson. Ellis, Zachary, Ethan, Grace, Carleigh, Ansleigh, Eli, Mr. Partington is also survived by his sister Anna Ravert (David) and brother Tom Partington (Linda), along with countless friends and extended family members who cherished his presence and guidance. His family invites relatives and friends to join them in celebrating John's life in a service to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 4 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service to share memories and take solace in each other's company. The family is accepting flowers or donations may be made to St Phillip Benezi Catholic Church, Tranquility Hospice, or Tunnels to Towers. Through his dedication and boundless generosity, John Partington leaves a legacy of love that will endure through the generations. His family celebrates the life of a remarkable man, whose spirit will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.
