Mildred Hardy

Funeral services for Mildred Tanner Hardy, Christian City, are scheduled for Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel at Parrott Funeral Home. Visitation is 1 hour prior to the service from 2:30 pm to 3.30 pm.. Dr. Stephen Batts, First Baptist Church of Fairbum, will officiate. There will be no graveside service. Mildred died December 29, 2006 from complications of a stroke. She was a long time resident of Fairburn, Georgia, having lived on Elder Street for 53 years. She was married to L. M. Hardy for 63 years. L.M. passed away November 2001. She is survived by her niece, Jonita Harris Hammer and her husband Travis, Dallas, Texas; nephews, David M.. Harris and his wife Becky, Atlanta, GA; Paul D. Harris and his wife Anne, Royston, GA.; and William Tanner and his wife Virginia, Hogansville, GA. She is survived by her niece, Janet Hardy, formerly of Fairburn, who lives in Augsburg, Germany. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Grace Perry of College Park, GA., and a host of great nephews and nieces, and great great nephews and nieces. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairbum and the Open Door Sunday School Class. Her Sunday School Class members faithfully visited Mildred every week at Christian City and were a constant source of love and support for her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved her church, her husband, and her family, and was an integral part of her sister, Anita Tanner Harris's family going on vacations and being a part of all the family gatherings. Mildred was fun; she had a wonderful personality and sense of humor, and could entertain every one with funny stories and colorful sayings. She loved the mountains and the beach and spent many wonderful times with friends and family at Hemlock Inn in Bryson City, N.C. and Daytona Beach, FL. Many of her wonderful stories came from childhood experiences living in the country and from 40 years in the printing business. She was a loyal and dedicated employee beginning with Longino &, Porter and retiring from Perry Communications. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Mildred Hardy be made to Christian City Convalescent Center or to The First Baptist Church of Fairburn.
