Russell Zack White

Russell Zack White came into this world early on October 20, 1970. He left us far too soon on May 25, 2026, at 55 years old. Russell was a devoted and cherished son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. He worked for many years at North Star Recovery, where he left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered and formed lifelong relationships. Russell helped countless people on the road to recovery, and many helped Russell along the way. Russell was an adventurer from a very young age; never fearful, never met a stranger. He loved Georgia football, sweet tea, family dinners, long conversations about the Bible, and just about any subject you wanted to discuss. His joy in life was being around those he loved; he was always up for anything we threw at him, and we threw a lot. Russell faced many struggles in his life, but he was always an over-comer, a warrior. He never questioned why or complained; he simply battled with grace and stood firmly in his faith. He was brilliant; he had a photographic memory and could challenge you on any subject, and often did. He was so special to each of us, and we will miss him every day until we meet him again and hear him say, with that overwhelming excitement of his, “I have been waiting for you!” Russell was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Zack White Jr., who adored him; by his beloved dog Lilly, who also adored him; and by many others who welcomed him with open arms. He is survived by his mother, Brenda White, and stepfather, Herb Sleeme; his four children, Hank White (Mikaela), Heather Gillenwaters (Lane), Cole Staples (Angie), and Casey Staples (Kira); and his four grandsons, Silas, Hudson, Benjamin, and Brantley. He is also survived by his sisters, Kerry Hatch (Michael) and Kelly Keeler (Lee); his step-siblings, Todd Sleeme, Chris Sleeme, and Kim Dunn; his brother in Christ, Randy McClain (Carol); nephew Evan Waddy; nieces Kelsey Gillette and McKenzie Megginson; great niece Eden Waddy and great nephew Lincoln Waddy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Russell will be held at Parrott Funeral Home on June 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9:30–11:00 a.m with Rev. Dr. Jim Donovan and Chaplain Evan Waddy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta.
