Thomas Jefferson Aldred Jr

Thomas Jefferson Aldred, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, in Newnan, Georgia. Born on February 3, 1945, in Manchester, Tennessee, Thomas lived a life marked by integrity, service, and love. A U.S. Army veteran and long-time Gideon, Thomas was deeply committed to his faith, sharing the Word of God and mentoring many along the way. As a member of Liberty Baptist Church, he taught Sunday school to fourth graders and led the Royal Ambassadors, sharing his love for the Lord with countless young minds. Later in life, Thomas became a member of Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church. A man of quiet strength and intelligence, when Thomas spoke, people listened. His tender heart and unwavering integrity were evident to all who knew him. Thomas retired from a distinguished career at IBM and the State of Georgia, where he was instrumental in helping others as a mentor. He was known for his ability to fix anything and his willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Thomas was a wonderful husband, a great provider and protector for his family, and a loving father and grandfather. He adored his daughter, Mandy Riggins, and cherished his grandsons, Remington and Ramsey Riggins. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, visiting six of the seven continents to marvel at God's handiwork. Whether traveling in an RV with his grandsons, planning trips with friends, or biking through Europe, Thomas embraced the wonders of the world with joy and gratitude. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Mary Gladys Aldred, Sr., and his brother-in-law, Bill King. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Aldred; his daughter, Mandy Riggins; his grandsons, Remington and Ramsey Riggins; his sister, Linda Harrison and her husband Dwight; his sister-in-law, Jackie King; brother-in-law Jeff Vines and his wife Janet; and nieces and nephews, Ron Harrison (Anna), Shandy King (Carrie), Brandon Vines (Ashley), Jessie Vines Hunter (Jimmy), and Katie Vines (Gleb). He also leaves behind seven great-nephews and numerous friends who will miss his warm heart and generous spirit. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 4 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Dr. Randy Wood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory. In meeting Thomas, you saw his heart—a heart that witnessed to many strangers, loved the Lord, and provided immeasurable love and support to his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
