Reba Joyce Robinson Curlee

July 7, 1932 - March 23, 2022

Mrs. Reba Joyce Robinson Curlee, age 89, of Tyrone, GA passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William “Bill” Morris Curlee. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Gardner and husband Tom, of Griffin, GA, Lanice Sudduth and husband Virgil, of McDonough, GA, Delores Dean and husband Gary, of Sharpsburg, GA; sons, Russell Curlee and wife, Lorraine of Elberton, GA, Bruce Curlee and wife Beth, of McDonough, GA; brothers, Carl Robinson, Glen Robinson; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Bishop Ben Johnson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to officiate. Reba was born in Jackson County TN on July 7, 1932 to Simeon and Geneva Robinson. She was number 10 of 11 children. At the age of 5 her family moved from Tennessee to Addison, Alabama. In her youth, she helped on the family farm, planting peas and picking cotton… and she hated doing both. In her teen-age years she found time to go roller-skating and would spend hours playing “mule train" and “pop the whip” with her brother and his wife when they would visit from Michigan. After graduating high school she moved to Michigan and worked in a drug store for a year before returning to Alabama. Back in Alabama, she picked up a hitchhiking soldier who became her husband for 69 years, and as an Army wife, she lived in Alabama, Virginia, Japan, and Georgia. Despite leaving Alabama in her 20’s, she remained an Addison Bulldogs fan and a faithful Alabama football fan…as long as they were winning. She was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, staying up to 1 or 2 in the morning when they played on the West Coast. Above all else, she loved to laugh and make others laugh. She loved to dress up for Halloween as a clown with rainbow colored hair and make a surprise visit to the teen-agers at their daily 6 am church meetings. And in her 80’s, she would make her grandchildren howl with laughter by wading into a swimming pool in her street clothes. She worked for a time as a lunch room lady at Huddleston Elementary School in Peachtree City, and enjoyed being with her co-workers and especially loved being with the children. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she enjoyed serving in leadership for the women’s and youth organizations, but she most enjoyed serving as a teacher to the youth and young children of the Church. She was a friend to all that needed a friend and had a heart that was big enough to listen and care for all… even telemarketers. She was proud of her family. Her face would light up with joy when her great grandchildren were around. As a Grandma, she enjoyed the times her grandchildren would come to visit or to spend the night… or nights, with her. And as a Mom, she could cure an ear-ache, treat a skinned knee, settle disputes between siblings, soothe hurt feelings, and make all right in the world. There was none better in all the world.
