Betty Edwards Power

Betty Edwards Power, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on September 26, 1930. Her final moments were spent doing something she loved — enjoying the vibrant atmosphere at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel. Betty grew up in Madison County, Georgia, where she developed the kind, loving, and giving nature that defined her life. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Forest Park, she was committed to her faith and community. Betty was known for her warmth and generosity, always remembering friends and family during the holidays and never missing a birthday, often sending heartfelt cards to celebrate each occasion. For many years, Betty worked as a Customer Service Representative for Georgia Power, where she was appreciated for her dedication and professionalism. Beyond her career, she had a zest for life, embracing hobbies such as crossword puzzles, reading, and bowling with her late husband, Curtis Power, with whom she shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage. Her love for the mountains and the beach reflected her appreciation for nature's beauty. Betty cherished her family, taking immense pride in her role as a mother to her son, Curtis Eugene "Gene" Power, and his wife Donyce, and as a grandmother to Rebecca Knowles and her husband Keith; great-grandmother Colin, Makenzie, and Hudson; her adoptive daughter Chris Kelly and her husband Harpo, along with her daughter Emily Bradford, her husband John, and their children. Betty is survived by her brother Johnny Lanier Edwards; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Power, her parents, Johnny and Gatha Edwards, and her brother, Donald Edwards. Despite these losses, Betty continued to live independently, still residing on her own and driving at the remarkable age of 94. The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Betty's life at a service held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Betty Edwards Power will be remembered as a pillar of strength and grace whose love touched all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, joy, and sweet nature will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
