Doris Elizabeth Trotter Turner

Doris Elizabeth Trotter Turner, born on October 16, 1935, in Clarksville, Georgia, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 19, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was 89 years old. Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Marvin and Mary Leona Trotter. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carl Augustus Turner; cherished children, Michael "Mickey" Turner and Debra "Debbie" Smith; and siblings Janice Brown, Linda Smith, Charles Trotter, and Michael Trotter. Doris is survived by her loving daughter, Ginny Cox; her brother, Mitchell Trotter and his wife, Lisa; and sisters Joyce Smith and her husband, Tom, Marge Brady and her husband, James, and Brenda Kadel. She leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren, Paula Turner, Sherrie Singleton, Randall Bedley, Heather West, and Amy Yeoman, as well as eight great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years. Her extended family includes her brother-in-law, Forrest Smith, and sisters-in-law, Lane Trotter and Charlotte Trotter. As the eldest of nine siblings, Doris held a special place in her family. She loved her family deeply and was a source of strength and wisdom for all who knew her. Professionally, she dedicated many years as a bookkeeper for United Community Bank, where her meticulous nature and integrity were greatly admired. Doris had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who found solace in books, and she delighted in the beauty of the outdoors, especially near the ocean. Fishing and feeding birds were among her favorite pastimes, and she often found joy in cooking alongside Brenda Gantt. Doris also cherished evenings spent watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, sharing these moments with her loved ones. A memorial service celebrating Doris's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 o'clock at the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to her service. Her family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable spirit and the love she bestowed upon them throughout her life. Doris Elizabeth Trotter Turner's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering love for her family, and the quiet strength with which she faced life's challenges.
