Elizabeth Buyers

Betty was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey and lived her childhood years there. When she was 16 years old she graduated from high school and attended Asbury College in Wilmore Kentucky. There she met her soul mate, Paul in the library and this began a love story for all eternity. They married June 24, 1944 in Mt. Holly and directly after their honeymoon, her new husband was in the US Air Force and was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They went there together and within a month of living there Paul was transferred to Brazil as the liaison to the Brazilian Air Force. Betty came back to Mt Holly to live with her parents. Betty’s life would soon be an adventure. After the war, Paul came back to her and they moved to Pennsylvania for him to finish college. Here Betty was busy with their first child, Martie, and began earning money by typing papers for college students. After Paul gradated they moved Everglades, FL where Paul was the accountant for Collier County and Betty was busy having two more children, Gene and Becky. Betty soon found herself on an adventure going to Brazil for Paul start the first modern supermarket with his brother. After two years, the family came back to the United States and Paul began his career with Pan American World Airways. The family settled in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and lived there for 30 years. Betty was a kindergarten teacher at their church and later owned her own business, The Thoughtful Corner, a card and gift shop. When Paul retired from Pan American, Betty sold the gift shop and together they created Buyers International, an import company which sold gifts from around the world, specializing in butterflies encased in glass art work. In 1992, they moved to Peachtree City, Ga and continued their business until Paul’s passing in 2006. Betty continued to live in Peachtree City where she enjoyed playing cards with friends and having family come for visits. Betty was an avid reader and traveled around the world with her husband and family. She experienced all the locations that she read about. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Reynolds, her father, Mark Reynolds and her loving husband, Paul. Betty’s memory will be cherished and deeply missed by her children Martie, Gene and Becky. Grandchildren Jody, Beth, Karina, Sara, Melva, Shelly, Jenny and Mark. Great grand-children Loran, Emma, Reagan, Sarah Kate, Henry, Oliver, Riley, Dalton, Evelyn and Isabella. Betty, also known as Mom, Gran and GG, will continue to live on through our loving memories and they will continue to grow as each of us share our stories with our families for generations to come.
