George Alton Yarian

Mr. George Alton Yarian, Jr., passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 in Corsicana, Texas at the age of 82. George Yarian is survived by his wife, Alice Wynnell Yarian; son and daughter in-law, Alton Wayne Yarian and Patricia Yarian; grandchildren, Trisha Yarian Kehn, Christopher Wayne Yarian, Sara Brasill Yarian, Amanda Lee Yarian, Tiffany Yarian, Josie and Lance Waid; great grandchildren, Andrew Codie Smith, Jonathan Lee Kehn, Haydin Brasill, Maci Lee Gibson, Samuel Lee Gibson, Blakelyn Grace Yarian, Colton Lee Worley. Other family include in-laws, Jimmy & Oleta Collins, Diane Whitlow and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Lee Yarian; sister, June Yarian Hargrove; brother in-law, Don Hargrove. George was born on April 28, 1934 in East Point, Georgia. He graduated from Russell High School in 1953. He married Alice Wynnell Yarian, his high school sweetheart, in March 1955. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida and George began his career in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. After being honorably discharged and retiring from the Navy, George began working for Delta Air Lines as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. After working for Delta for 31 years, he retired. George worked with the McDonough Police Department and local DNR to help with the Hunter’s Safety Course and was a reserve officer. In 1997, George and Wynnell Moved from McDonough to Lake Oconee where they stay involved in their local church, volunteered for local events, and enjoyed their many friends, as well as sitting on their back porch watching the boats and the sunsets. Recently, George and Wynnell had begun a new adventure by moving to Texas to be with their son, Wayne. George and Wynnell enjoyed travelling, especially to the beach and the lakes. They enjoyed the outdoors and camping all over the country. George loved being involved in the Boys Scouts with his sons, Wayne and Barry, during their youth. George was devoted to his wife of 61 years, the love of his life and partner, Wynnell. The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home with the service beginning at 2 o’clock in the Chapel. Rev. Paul Leslie officiating. George will be laid to rest to rest at College Park Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.parrottfuneralhome.com.
