Lanelle Plymal Lane

Lanelle Plymal Lane, born on April 28, 1929, in Cedar Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully, at Northside Hospital, on September 7, 2024, at the age of 95. Lanelle graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1946 and later pursued an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Clayton Junior College. Her professional career was marked by 34 years of dedicated service with the Housing and Urban Development Office as a Regional Labor Relations Officer. In this role, she traveled extensively across Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina, playing a pivotal part in developing community block grants. An avid reader and enthusiastic traveler, Lanelle cherished every moment spent with her beloved brothers and sisters, and later with her adored nieces and nephews: Sheila Peterson, Terri Cogin, Traci McGregor, Jackie and Roger Botting, and Bill and Gail Ewing. Her devotion to her family and to Jesus was unparalleled, and she loved them fiercely. Lanelle was a dedicated member and servant at Johns Creek Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the Bowen Community Group while residing at Alta in the Johns Creek Community. In addition, she served as Secretary and an ordained Deacon at Druid Hills Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and guided her in all her endeavors. Lanelle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack L. Lane, who passed away on May 22, 2003; her infant son, Lindy Lane; her parents, Wille and Winnie Plymal; her siblings, Hazel Keys, Ralph Plymal, Clark Plymal, Louise Miller, and Bernice Ewing; and her son in-law, Fred Cassidy. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her surviving family: her son, Stephen M. Lane (Teresa) of Sugar Hill, GA; her daughter, Judi Lane Cassidy of Dothan, AL; her grandchildren, Kimberly Lee (Levi) of Oakwood, GA, Todd Coley of Gainesville, GA, Amy Cassidy Peters (Tyler) of Dothan, AL, Mark Watson of Seattle, WA, Matthew Cassidy (Christina) of Decatur, GA and Benjamin Cassidy of Opelika, AL; and her great-grandchildren, Blakely Lane Peters of Dothan, AL, Alicia Cassidy of Unadilla, GA, Ethan Cassidy of Decatur, GA, Alex Cassidy of Decatur, GA, Alice Watson of Seattle, WA, and Lucian Cassidy of Brundige, AL, and Shiloh Cassidy of Brundige, AL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Parrott Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Mrs. Lane’s daughter, Judi Cassidy. Lanelle Plymal Lane's enduring spirit, unwavering faith, and commitment to her family and communities she served will forever be remembered. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a rich legacy of love, service, and devotion.
