Marilyn Ruth Brown Williams

Marilyn Ruth Brown Williams, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, surrounded by family and dear friends. Born on November 10, 1932, in Miami, Florida, Marilyn lived a life marked by devotion to God, family, and community. From her baptism at her family’s church in Miami, to many faithful years at East Point First Methodist Church. Wieuca Road Baptist Church, and most recently as a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Stockbridge, Georgia, Marilyn remained steadfast in her faith. She joyfully created seasonal decorations to celebrate church holidays, and her commitment to her faith sustained and energized her throughout her life. Her kindness and loving spirit drew lifelong friendships and blessed all who knew her. As a wedding director in Rich’s Bridal Department, Marilyn helped plan and oversee more than 150 weddings across the Atlanta area. Her creativity and attention to detail were evident in every event she touched. Throughout her life, she found great joy in designing unique and beautiful floral arrangements. In retirement, she and her husband, Bill, expressed their Christian love by founding the Amazing Grace Clothes Closet, a ministry providing free clothing and household goods to missionaries and others in need. Marilyn was preceded in death by her dear husband, Willis H. “Bill” Williams; her cherished children, Albert E. “Chip” Houck, Arlene Scarbrough, and Norman Williams; and her sons-in-law, Fredric Ohm and Michael Foley. She is survived by her loving children, Laurie Houck James and her husband, Doug; Steve Houck; and Deborah Foley; as well as her daughter-in-law, Ellen Houck. Marilyn’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Kevin (Molly) Jacob James, Nick (Megan) Houck, Justin (Leah) Houck, and Laura Huffman; and her great-grandchildren, Eleanor Marko, Avery, Joni, and Tucker Houck, and Gerald and Hugh Jacob James, all of whom will carry forward her bright spirit, caring soul, and boundless love. Services to honor and celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, 8355 Senoia Road, Fairburn, GA 30213, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 11 o’clock with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Greg Howell officiating. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
