Mary Girtman

Mary Girtman, aged 95, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Newnan, GA. Born on January 22, 1930, Mary lived a long and fulfilling life, devoted to her family and community. Known to most simply as Grandmary, she was the heart of her family and a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. To know Mary was to know kindness, strength, and unwavering love. She cherished her family, both near and far, and was a source of joy, wisdom, and comfort to all who knew her. She was a wife, sister, and a beloved mother and grandmother figure to many. Mary was a devoted member of Crossroads Church, where she was known as one of the cherished Silver Bells. She faithfully served her church family by helping to stuff bulletins and participating in countless ministries over the years. A woman of deep faith and compassion, Mary loved Jesus with all her heart and lived her life as a reflection of His love. She was also a dedicated volunteer, offering her time and warmth to the American Red Cross and at her children’s schools, where she touched many lives with her kindness and generosity. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Luther Girtman III; her dear son, Christopher Girtman; her parents, John Hoyt and Mary Ellen Adams; her siblings, Terrell Adams, Mavis Waters, Johnny Sue Craton, Bob Adams, and Jessie Adams; and her great-grandson, Jordan Tilton. Mary’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her surviving children, Harry “Chip” Girtman IV, Tracy Hammerman (Skip), and Gregory Girtman. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Jodie Girtman, Jamie Tilton (Matt), and Thomas Lutz; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Girtman, Berklee Tilton, and Brody Tilton. Mary Girtman leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, and joyful service—a true example of Christ’s love on earth. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 3 o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Pastor John Hobbs officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory.
