Thelma Thurman Jackson

Thelma Thurman Jackson, born on January 15, 1928, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at the age of 98. She lived a life full of love, generosity, and dedication to her family, friends, and community. Thelma was a beacon of compassion and kindness, known for her toughness and gentle heart. She always put others first, especially her beloved family, demonstrating a selflessness that inspired everyone who knew her. Her warm spirit and unwavering dedication to those she loved left a mark on the hearts of all at Wesley Woods of Newnan, where she was cherished and admired. She was a graduate of Campbell High School and furthered her education at Georgia State Business College. Her career began at Southern Saw Service, where she excelled as an office manager. After retirement, she dedicated her time as a volunteer "Pink Lady" at South Fulton Hospital, continuing her life's work of service with grace and humility. A devoted member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Thelma was its oldest member, embodying the values and faith she held dear throughout her life. She and her late husband, Charles Stephen Jackson, whom she married on January 17, 1948, were pillars of their community. Charles, affectionately known as the "mayor" of the Goodes community, was complemented perfectly by Thelma, lovingly referred to as "Mrs. Goodes." Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her son Karlton Jackson (Mary Ann), her daughter Karol Allen (Jim), and her grandchildren Stephen Farr (Jennie), Scott Farr (Jamie), Kimberly Gilfedder (Brent), and Katherine Jackson (Jean Marc Destinoble). She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Seth (Jaimee), Shelby (Adam), Reagan, Jackson, Jenny (Dave), Madeline, and Charlotte, as well as great-great-grandchildren Jacob, Ansleigh, Avery, A.J., and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sisters Jane Thomas (Tommy) and Julia Bonner (Bill). Nieces and nephews, each of whom she held dear. A service to celebrate Thelma's life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with visitation two hours prior. Pastor Mike Emeott and Pastor David Adamson will officiate the ceremony, honoring her profound faith and everlasting kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Hope UMC Cemetery Fund, 7875 Atlanta Newnan Rd, Chattahoochee Hills, GA 30268, ensuring her commitment to her faith community continues. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wesley Woods for the compassionate care they provided Thelma in her later years. Thelma Thurman Jackson's life was a testament to love, service, and the power of putting family first. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
