William Carlton Davis

William Carlton Davis, born on October 23, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 92. His life was a testament to craftsmanship, love, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. A veteran of the U.S. Army, William carried the discipline and honor of military service into every aspect of his life. He was an exceptional carpenter, known for his meticulous skill and dedication while working at W.P. Haynie Construction, where he helped build and renovate Shell Oil Stations. His work was not just a job but a way of expressing his artistry and leaving a tangible mark on the world. William was more than just a master of wood and nails; he was a storyteller of extraordinary talent. His tales could captivate audiences, drawing listeners young and old into the rich tapestry of his experiences. He made an impression on everyone he met, weaving connections with stories and wisdom that left a lasting impact. During the COVID pandemic, when visiting restrictions kept him from seeing his beloved wife, Ada Vickery Davis, William made the selfless decision to become a resident of Florence Hand Home to be close to her. Their heartfelt reunion, celebrated by many, even made the news — a testament to his enduring commitment and love. His presence at Florence Hand Home was cherished, earning him the affectionate title of "The Candyman" amongst his friends there. William was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ada Vickery Davis, and his beloved son, Allen Davis. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Highnote (Joey) and Cindy Cox (Craig); grandchildren, Dawn Perez (Beto), Andy Davis (Desiree), and Nicole Diehl (Ron); and great-grandchildren, Aubrey Brown (Keith), Dominick Perez, Sarah Perez, Elizabeth Diehl, Reece Diehl, Sienna Diehl, Cole Davis, Ayda Davis, Lyric Maxwell, Grace Kelly, and a great-great grandson Waylon Brown, and a great-great granddaughter, Millie Jo Brown, on the way. His legacy also includes many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. William's family will hold a Celebration of Life service, celebrating his remarkable life on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, with Pastor Carson Thaxton officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Florence Hand Home: Make checks payable to Sandra Ross (in memo: donations for FHH activities department), 200 Medical Dr., Lagrange, GA 30240. May we all learn from William's incredible example of generosity, strength, and the ability to touch hearts with every story shared and every gesture of kindness. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him.
